EQUIP FOR FAMILIES

Children's Education Options

Providing a good education for your child is one of the keys to equipping them for their future. AIM does not want to see any of our children unprepared for their next step due to gaps in primary and  secondary educational options.

Possible educational options are homeschooling, some sort of  homeschool cooperative, national schools, schools using a language other  than the child’s mother tongue, secular International schools and  schools specifically for the children of missionaries. For any children who are not part of a recognized educational program, we ask that they receive annual assessments as an objective means of measuring their educational progress.

Talk these issues through with your children, especially older ones. Even young children need to be reassured that you are making plans for them and be able to have some input into those plans.

AIM Support

You should be in conversation with your Mobilizing Office about these options and education planning for your children as early in the Equip process as possible. AIM’s TCK team are there to help you navigate the different options, or to discuss any educational  concerns you might have.

Each family is required to have an Educational Plan for each child that will be school-aged during each term of service. It should be  submitted to your Mobilizing Office Educational Consultant at least two  months before departing for the field for final clearance so that your mobilizing office can be sure that what is planned meets the requirements of your children’s home country.

Our TCK Consultant (tckconsultant.io@aimint.org) is also available to help you navigate this important part of your children’s lives.

If you decide to homeschool, consider getting training for educating your children overseas.  Contact your mobilizing region to about possible trainings near you.

Interaction International, based in the US, offers online and in person trainings here.
